Welcome to Interactive Fiction Text to Speech
Welcome to the new site... I hope to put all my text to speech enhanced interactive fiction software on this one site and open up the forums and polls for discussions about enhancements and directions. At this time there are three interpreters I am modifying to add Text-To-Speech: WinFrtoz2002 ( Infocom/Inform), Scare (Adrift), and Level 9. I'm trying to write a single code base that works with all three. This will give users close to 1000 games to enjoy. So far the response from the community has been great and I hope to have the new version on WinFrotzTTS ready soon. Watch this space for announcements.

New feature poll
Someone sent me an interesting feature request, that might help get around some of the games problems with text to speech when abbreviations and acronyms are used. This can be a real problem when screen headers are read, or directions such as 'e' for east. The new poll asks if would be helpfull to have a system where these abbreviations and acronyms could be replaced and read with there expanded versions.

Sony Invention Beams Sights, Sounds Into Brain
LONDON (Reuters) - If you think video games are engrossing now, just wait: PlayStation maker Sony Corp. has been granted a patent for beaming sensory information directly into the brain.
The technique could one day be used to create videogames in which you can smell, taste, and touch, or to help people who are blind or deaf.

New Version Released
Go to the downloads section to get the new version of WinFrotzTTS 2002. A lot of time has been spent testing and tweaking this version to make it easy to use as possible. Also I have packed all the inform games from the IF Archive site to give users some games to start with. Thanks go to Beto Escobar III for the testing and suggestions. See the previous announcement for a list of features. And drop by the forum for suggestions and comments.

First of all thank you for the great response to the initial release of WinFrotzTTS 2002, there was a lot of feedback and suggestions for new features.
